Scholarships

We seek to provide partial or full scholarships to all applicants who need them. If you cannot afford the course fee, we encourage you to apply for the scholarship funds made available to us from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, North Pond Restaurant, and The Land Connection’s New Farmer Scholarship Fund.

If you are considering a scholarship, you need to get both your Farm Beginnings application and your Scholarship applications in by Monday, September 1, 2008. The scholarship application consists of these 3 items:

  1. Scholarship Application
  2. Statement of Need (explain in a few paragraphs why you need the scholarship – no more than one page, please)
  3. A copy of your most recent tax return

Your application materials will be confidential, reviewed only by the scholarship committee. Scholarship decisions are made on the basis of need, as well as on a demonstrated commitment to sustainable agriculture. Some scholarships are available for minorities and recent immigrants.
