Central Illinois Farm Beginnings

Additional and Extended Support

  1. Farming Conference Scholarships – In the Midwest, there are many conferences and workshops that provide new and experienced farmers with information on specific topics of interest. Recognizing that these conferences offer practical, specific knowledge and training, as well as excellent networking opportunities, we offer partial funding for CIFB students to attend conferences and learn more about the specific type of farming enterprise they wish to pursue.

  2. Continuing Resources and Access to CIFB Training Opportunities – Graduates of Central Illinois Farm Beginnings continue to receive updates and notices regarding training opportunities and other resources after graduation. CIFB graduates are also welcome to attend other training opportunities offered by the TLC-U-I Extension partnership free of charge.

  3. Ongoing Farmer Network – By the end of the full-year Central Illinois Farm Beginnings program, the CIFB graduate will have met dozens of local farmers, including presenters, mentors, and previous Farm Beginnings students. This network of experienced and knowledgeable farmers is often cited as the most valuable outcome for CIFB students as they take the leap toward starting their own farm enterprise.
Central Illinois Farm Beginnings is coordinated and co-facilitated by The Land Connection and the University of Illinois Extension and is a member of the National Farm Beginnings Collaborative.
