About Central Illinois Farm Beginnings

CIFB provides important instruction and training opportunities through three core components:

Central Illinois Farm Beginnings Students
  1. Business Planning Seminars  – Nine full-day Saturday seminars that focus on intensive business planning. Presenters include many successful farmers and business people, as well as U of I and USDA experts. (October-March)

  2. On-Farm Field Days  – Six farm field days providing hands-on instruction in farmer-identified areas of need (March-June)

  3. One-on-One Mentorships  – Every participant in CIFB engages in a customized season-long relationship with an experienced local farmer (May-September)
Central Illinois Farm Beginnings is coordinated and co-facilitated by The Land Connection and the University of Illinois Extension and is a member of the National Farm Beginnings Collaborative.
